Wires
June 2021 2 min read
Yellow, Red, Green, Black, and Brown,
made of plastic, copper, silver, or the gold of the queen’s crown.
Smooth, strong, and long just like the amazonian viper,
so very crude and simple yet so important like the microscopic atom is the common wire.
Catches the fish and shoos away the birds,
protects the farm and punishes the trespassers just like a group of well-trained guards.
Sometimes on the head or in the clothes it is worn,
so fundamental and yet so subtle without which could get our clothes torn.
Obsessed are your clothes which never fail to cling to the wire when it’s worn or when it’s hung after a clean refreshing wash.
Invisible they might seem imprisoned in the dark cells behind the wall,
irrespective of the condition it lightens and ensures that we don’t miss the daily dose of American football.
Rudimentary and often neglected, yet so prime akin to unstoppable time,
connects the world like experiences that connect lives spanning the entirety of their time.
