Steel Tumblers

reflectivemelancholicnostalgic

Circular rim, rectangular rim, and elliptical rim,
tall and short, fat and thin, a color which exudes a dark dim.
Unbreakable like the soul of Hercules and the strength of a sparkling diamond,
monotonous and lackluster just like the present state of politics and a terrorist trying to squeak an artificial amend.

Unused in parties and not worthy for the guests and certainly inferior for the ‘drink’,
plastic, melamine, glass, and even clay preferred over the good old silver steel tumbler.
Worthy only for drinking basic water, but without which may lead to struggling at the life-death brink.
Just a glass of basic water from the boring tumbler wakes a drunk from his intoxicated weekend blur.

It’s no different than the ever-helpful benevolent bees,
ignored and dismissed as just a petty insect only to conserve them when nature began to turn on them.
Neither breaks nor harms the huge banyan trees,
calmly sits in their stand dreaming about the elixir to be filled in them.
