Choices

The beauty of choice is that it’s a double-edged sword,
just like water, it helps us live and also decimates us.
A tourist trusting a local money swindler or Romeo loving Juliet,
for no one can truly predict how can it affect us.

The countryfolk praying to the rain gods and the soldiers’ wives praying for their beloved’s safe return,
for the only immutable thing in choice is a sleek flicker of hope.
Unpredictable it is but much better than nonstop regret and mourn,
as risky it may be like walking on a thin endless rope,
that fear that excitement that uncertainty is what makes our life worth living.

Choosing the wrong elective in grad school or falling in love with the wrong person,
is not just a choice but also a lesson which no other teacher or professor could teach.
Just like how playing football is much more enjoyable than watching it,
the obsession with the right choices overlooks the fact that there’s no true white and black, for it’s the vibrant puddle of the various colors that make the world.

Make the right choice but ease up a little on your perceived morality as
it’s not the wrong choices we made we regret, it’s the ones we wanted to but didn’t.
